Why wouldn't you watch TV on PC? Ever since primitive hunters discovered they could use their spears not only as weapons but also as handy utensils for roasting meat over an open fire people have loved to use inventions to do jobs they weren't invented for.
Car engines get hot. Heat can be used to cook. Somebody made that connection and now "engine block cooking" has become a popular addition to the traditional Sunday drive. Guidebooks are available with routes of enjoyable trips paired with recipes for meals that will cook in the distance driven.
Not so very long ago some youngsters who wanted something a little more exciting to do took their old roller skates and nailed them to pieces of 2x4 to create the first skateboards. Skateboarding has since become an international sports phenomenon and made a lot of money for manufacturers and dealers of boards and accessories.
Of course, not content with skateboards as a sport for human beings, some people had to teach their dogs and cats and squirrels and monkeys to ride skateboards. The internet is now replete with videos of all manner of creatures on skateboards.
People used to be happy with a telephone that enabled them to hold conversations with people who were too far away to see face to face. A modern phone, however, is expected to shoot, store and send pictures and videos connect you with all the search engines, collect your Email and keep you from getting lost while you're on the road. A phone that can't do all that and more is considered pretty feeble.
Television and computers are the dominant forces that influence and entertain Americans today. No one wants to be away from either one for very long so it's really just the next logical step to watch TV on PC. Search engines make it easy to find the programs you want. And if the monitor on your laptop is to small for comfort it's easy to connect to a larger monitor or hook your PC up to your TV.
