you can use the stroller without the car seat part, just buy a regular stroller, not a combination travel system. He is already almost to big for a infant carrier car seat so it would be a waste of money to buy it. In the car use a rear facing convertible seat that allows him to stay rear facing until 30Lbs (I have the evenflo triumph advance and I love it) and a regular stroller when you are walking.
